COMMENTARY: Haralambos Bouchlas has been a member of the Greek Orthdox Archdiocese of America since 1933, the date of his baptism. He has served the Church on the Board of Directors elected by the community of St. Catherine's Greek Orthodox Church in West Palm Beach, FL. for two (2) terms, one as treasurer. He attended spiritual court in 1978 to seek the personal blessing of the Bishop of the diocese of Atlanta, subsequently entering the lay Priest program of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese under Archbishop Iakovos with his sponser and mentor being the Very Reverend Emmanual E. Bouyoucas, the parish priest. Upon completion, in 1983 he received an ordination by an Aleandrian Bishop as a deacon and Priest.
In 1985 Rev. Fr. Haralambos founded Saint Michael Academy of Eschatology for the purpose of catechizing converts to the Holy Orthodox Church for their respective geographical jurisdictions.
He was ordained to the Bishopric by canonical Ukrainian and Alexandrian Bishops and Archbishops. He was elevated to Archbishop for the economia of the Holy Ukrainian Orthodox Autocephalic Church in Exile by Metropolitan Nicholas, its primate. The purpose of this elevation was to fulfill the Church's jurisdictional need and canonical apostolic succession due to the oncoming eminent repose of Metropolitan Nicholas, age 98, recognizing canons do provide a break in tradition under certain circumstances.
